The conference is intended for
county Extension agents as well as
agricultural custom pesticide
applicators, dealers, distributors
and sales representatives. In
addition, plant protection workers
from the Maryland Department of
Agriculture will be on hand. Other
interested persons especially
farmers —are also welcome.
As in most past years, the
meeting will serve as the initial
distribution point for the annual
edition of Maryland Extension
Bulletin 237, Pest Control
Recommendations for Field Crops.
It is also a qualifying meeting for
state recertification in Category I
for custom applicators.
Since its inception in 1955, the
pesticide conference has been
conducted each year by
Cooperative Extension Service
specialists from the University of
Maryland. The state Department
of Agriculture has been a co
sponsor since 1973.
Next week’s meetings mark the
return to a traditional policy of
separate meetings cm both sides of

followed the one-day, one-location
policy which marked its early
years.
