the farm for breeding and showing
purposes.
Mellott also exhibited the
reserve champion ewe, while Ben
and Mary Bow, R 1 Annville,
showed the reserve champion ram.
In the Rambouillet show, all the
grand and reserve grand cham
pion honors were earned by
Kenneth T. Moore of R 2 Rome,
Bradford County.
The homebred champion ram
was a fall ram lamb which won the
reserve champion title at the
national show in Louisville, Ky.,
this past year. Also homebred, the
Moore’s ewe lamb champion was
awarded champion ewe at
Louisville.
With the help of their daughter,
Dons Powell, the Moores raise
over 300 head of sheep including

said their Rambouillet sheep show
well and “are probably the best as
far as showing.”
The Merino grand and reserve
grand champion honors were
shared by Lewis P. Crouse, of R 1
Graysville, and Barbara and
Charles Platt, of 905 Belmont
Road, Gettysburg.
Crouse, of Greene County, won
the grand champion ram title with
his February 1983 lamb. He also
earned reserve champion ewe
honors.
Crouse’s winners came from his
herd of 70 sheep which he raises on
his parent’s, Howard and Edith
Crouse, farm in Graysville. In
addition to the Merino breed,
Suffolk, colored black sheep and
commercial Suffolks are also
raised.

ELEVATED DECKS &
Charles and Barbara Platt, of
Adanis County, earned the grand
champion ewe and the reserve
champion ram titles. The
champion ewe was a fall lamb bred
by the Platts. Its sire was grand
champion at the Farm Show last
year.
Raising Merino sheep for seven ■
years, the Platts currently own 101
ewes and rams. This was the third
consecutive year that they have
had champions at the Farm Show.

county took home Reserve
