Pa. Champion shawl
breaks national record
FARM SHOW National
tecords were broken Wednesday
night as Rich Brandt Real Estate
of Reading, BERKS COUNTY,
purchased the 100 percent wool
grand champion shawl at the 1984
Pennsylvania Farm Show.
The Niddy Noddies team from
Lancaster County was named the
grand champion of the 1984 Penn
sylvania Sheep to Shawl Contest
with their Finnish lace weave
shawl done in sky blue, pale violet,
light green and cream colors. Rich
Brandt Real Estate then shattered
the national record price for a
winning shawl by paying $420 after
spirited bidding from a crowd of
more than 1,000. This is the fifth
year in a row for Rich Brandt to
buy the winning shawl.
