Holstein Association as president
following recent reorganization
and planning meetings held by the
county club.
Assisting Smyser are vice
president Leroy Bupp, R 2 Seven
Valleys, and secretary-treasurer
Martin Heaps, Rl Fawn Grove.
Tom Boyer, Biesecker Road, York,
is state director.
Events sponsored by the club get
underway in March with a bam
meeting and calf sale. Smyser’s
Richlawn Farms will host the
March 6 bam meeting. Focus of
the afternoon program is on dry
cow management, with the op
portunity to observe the Smyser
family’s recently-constructed dry
cow and maternity bam addition.

York’s Holstein breeders team
with their Adams County neigh
bors for the sixth annual Adams-
York Calfarama sale on March 20.
Approximately 50 selected calves,
many highly suitable for use in 4-H
and FFA project work, will go on
the auction block at the York
Fairgound’s horticulture building.
The fairgrounds is also the site
for the annual black and white
show, scheduled to run in con
junction with the county 4-H
roundup. Tentative date for the
open class Holstein judging is July
26.
Other planned activities include
a bush trip in early April, summer
picnic hosted at the George Knight
family’s Woodbine Farms and the
annual banquet in October at
Blymire’s Church near
Dallastown.
