starts in 1963 and increased his
lifetime earnings to $138,909. The
victory also made him the National
Steeplechase and Hunt
Association’s top money-winner
for the year with seasonal win
nings of $93,064.
Flatterer is just one of many
outstanding horses bred by the
Sheppard/Pape partnership.
Among the partners’ homebred
stakes winners was recently
deceased Martie’s Anger, who won
the 1979 Colonial Cup Steeplechase
and that year’s Eclipse.
