Apple Market
News
Tuesday, January 3
Report supplied by PDA
Happy 1984 to you from Penn
sylvania Department of
Agriculture.
Movement of apples during the
past Holiday weeks showed slight
improvement with a gradual in
crease in activity, and with prices
remaining relatively steady. Keep
in mind that for prices to improve,
the market must first show an
increase in activity and this has
been evident for the past three
weeks according to some brokers
within the Commonwealth.
The citrus freeze in Texas and
Florida continues to be
newsworthy. The latest news
reported is that because of the
embargo, citrus prices will go up
and product quantity in markets
will decline. This will begin
showing up by weekend. Shelf
space in the markets will become
empty due to lack of citrus fruit.
Let’s talk to our buyers about
filling up empty space with good
Pennsylvania Apples.
SUMMARY
