HARRISBURG - The Penn sylvania Food Marketplace will again be a center of attraction at the Pennsylvania Farm Show. Ag Secretary Penrose Hallowell said that 21 Pennsylvania food firms are scheduled to have displays, distribute samples and sell products to the throngs of Farm Show visitors that will file past their booths in the lower level of the large arena. “These films are representative of more than 1,400 food processors and 28,000 retail food outlets in the commonwealth,” Hallowell said. “They are a very essential com ponent of our economy, with an nual sales in excess of $25 billion and employment for nearly one fifth of the entire state workforce,” he continued. The group representing the Grange is “Sassafrass” - a five member, vocal/instrumental ensemble well-known to Grange members for its bluegrass music. The members of Sassafrass are all members of the Greenwood Grange in Clearfield County. The group has won top honors in past Grange district talent con tests, and this year won in the instrumental category of the Grange State Talent Finals held in Clearfield this past October during the Grange’s annual convention. Sassafrass maintains a substantial following for its music, both in and outside the Grange, playing locally and traveling for public engagements. The members of the group are as follows: Ruth Dickey (guitar), Nancy Ingel (vocal/guitar), George Irwin (vocal/mandolin), Jean Young (vocal/bass) and Jim Young (vocal/banjo).
