teacher
to be named
LEBANON -
Nominations are being
accepted for the
national “Conservation
Teacher-of-the-Y ear”
awards program, ac
cording to Donald
Bollinger, Chairman of
the Lebanon Con
servation District. The
competition is open to
all full-time teachers
working at the kin
dergarten through high
school level who have
developed an out
standing program of
environmental educat
ion.
- The National Con
servation Teacher-of
the Year will receive
$l,OOO in cash and an
expense paid trip to
Honolulu, Hawaii, for
the 1985 annual con
vention of the National
Association of Con
servation Districts. The
national second place
winner receives a $5OO
cash award and the first
place regional winner
will receive $2OO.
Co-sponsored by
NACD and the Allis
Chalmers Corporation,
the purpose of the
awards program is to
encourage the
development of creative
learning experiences in
conservation for young
people. “Any teacher in
a public or private
school in our con
servation district who
puts emphasis on en
vironmental con
servation as a regular
part of the instructional
program is eligible for
nomination," said Mr.
Bollinger.
Interested teachers
can obtain additional
information and
nomination forms from
the Lebanon Con
servation District at 272-
3377. The awards
program also honors the
conservation districts
judged to have provided
the most effective
stimulus and help for
conservation education
programs within the
district.
