Both are also fed hay. In all, Fred and Emily spend about an hour and a half each day working with their steers. They also work with their heifers, but not as much time or training goes into them. Much of what the pair has learned about showing comes from their busy summer show circuit. They travel to seven shows each year including the New Holland and Ephrata Fairs, Chianina Field Day, the New Jersey Angus Field Select from 15hp, 17hp, 19hp, 24hp and 29hp models. "We started to go to summer shows just for fun,” Emily said. “The more shows you go to, the more you learn.” The experience has paid off. Throughout the show circuit, the brother and sister team have captured champion and reserve champion awards. They have also received placings in the top per centage of their classes. The children of F. Roy and Carol Weaver, Fred and Emily have always had an interest in animals.
