Cartoned egg orders range from good to very good. Movement is bride as traders actively try to fill retail outlets. Floor stocks of large are barely adequate to short. Buying interest is active for class l’s and 2’s and graded loose large. However, most inquiry is going unfilled due to the lack of offerings. Also the closeness of the holidays requires that products be available from nearby areas for more prompt shipment. Most traders are meeting orders but no more than that on mediums or extra large. Demand for parts remains strong, and supplies are tight on most items. Overall slaughter is light as some plants are not operating, and others have reduced their kill for today. Tomorrow, the majority of plants are closed, and those that are running are not operating full. Live supplies are adequate. Weights are light to desirable. Undertone firm. Today’s L.T.L. asking prices are 1 cent higher on U.S. Grade A at .59-.6S cents. Estimated slaughter of broiler fryers in Delmarva (000). J. Poultry Wednesday, December 21 Report supplied by USDA Market Comment: Prices generally unchanged. Offerings of live birds are limited, causing most plants to run much reduced slaughter schedules. Canner pack demand is lighter; however, higher egg and broiler values do little to alleviate the current values of both live and canner fowl.
