Market Comment: RTC
movement on whole birds is a little
slower today but still sufficient to
clear current production and keep
plants in good balance. Breasts
and cutlets continue to struggle as
little interest is shown even at
lower values. Leg and leg quarters
are fully adequate, but movement
is mixed as some note a slightly
better movement while other still
find the demand slow. Wings move
well even at the higher price
levels.
Overall slaughter is light as a
couple of plants are not operating
today. Live supplies are adequate.
Weights irregular but are now
desirable at most plants. Un
dertime steady.
Today’s L.T.L. asking prices are
unchanged on U.S. Grade A .56-.60
cents.

Report supplied by USDA
Market Comment: Prices have
trended higher, but most traders
are starting to show some
resistance at current price levels,
and some are bidding lower on
both live and canner fowl. Of
ferings are light, and the loss of
birds from the quarantined area of
Pennsylvania has curtailed
operating time. The call for can
ners is fair, but the substitution of
broiler meat has lessened the
overall demand on fowl meat.

Because of the Current dangers of spreading the
Avian Flu virus from farm to farm, representatives
from Moyer’s Chicks, have been making themselves
scarce. We are, however, as close as the nearest
phone, and we are working hard at co-ordinating
supplies for customers within the Q-Zone and for
those without and those out of state.
Whatever your requirements are for chicks, pullets,
or set dates, we’d like to put something together for
you. BUT don’t delay: Supplies and Hatch Dates are
limited.
