Around 7 million pullets, broilers, turkeys and other poultry have been
declared affected with the “hot strain” of Avian Influenza. Everyone is
aware of the tremendous financial impact this is having on all phases of
the poultry industry. The quarantine area restrictions continue to tighten
in an effort to control the spread of this deadly virus. Naturally, because of
these restrictions, business as usual cannot continue. With the exception of
one layer flock in New Jersey, Avian Influenza has been contained within
the quarantine area, so the industry efforts seem to be working.
