Press a Potato Print
Potatoes are an important crop
and a tasty food to eat, but did you
ever think they could be used to
print decorations? Well, they can,
and now is a good time to try it.
Why not use potato prints to make
your own Christmas cards of
Christmas decorations?
Here’s what you need: potato,
newspapers to protect your
working surface, cutting board,
brush, paint - watercolon, tem
pera or colored ink, heavy paper or
cloth to print on.
Here’s What you do:
1. Cut the potato in half.
2. With a pencil, draw the design
you want on the potato.

Boroska, Louis UJazdowski, and
Craig Reiner. Dr. James Smith
spoke to the group about horse
nutrition, parasites and proper

3. Cut away the part of the potato
that isn’t part of the design. The
design should stand up about V«
inch when you finish cutting.
4. Brush paint on the design or
dip the potato into the paint.
5. Paint the design on paper by
pressing. But don’t press too hard
or you’ll have mashed potatoes.
Don’t be discouraged if your first
prints aren’t too terrific. It takes
some experimenting.
0. Remember: The potato has to
be repainted before every {Mint.
Once you get a good print, try it
several ways: sideways, upside
down, even overlapped.

attended the Fall Horse Workshop.
Their annual Christmas party and
End of the Year awards program

Fairmount Community Center.
