TIMONIUM, Md. - You’ll have
a good chance to “quiz the ex
perts” during next month’s 10th
annual Mid-Atlantic No-Till
Conference, set for Dec. 14 at the
Maryland State fairground in
Timonium.
Departing the traditional format
involving an all-day schedule of
speakers, this year’s educational
program in Exhibition Hall will

NEWARK, DEL. Commercial
pesticide applicators in three
categories must become recer
tified by the end of Dec., 1964,
according to new deadlines set by
the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency. Those affected are:
rodent and structural commercial
pest control operators (PCOs),
custom applicators or agricultural
materials, and ornamental and
turg managers working with golf
greens or home lawns and land
scapes.
According to University of
Delaware extension entomologist
Mark Graustein, to become
recertified each applicant must
attend enough approved
workshops or training sessions to
earn a total of eight credits.
Graustein says the University of
Delaware Cooperative Extension
Service is planning several
educational programs this winter
to help Delaware applicators
review and update their skills.
In February there will be a two
day workshop for PCOs. In
dividuals who attend this
Delaware Pest Control Short
Course most likely will be awarded
eight credits.

After lunch in the fairground’s 4-
H and Home and Arts building,
participants may return to
Exhibition Hall to hear the
speakers answer questions raised
by their morning presentations.
The rest of the afternoon may then
be spent corralling speakers for
answers to individual questions, or

16 at the University of Delaware
Substation in Georgetown); the
Delaware Vegetable Growers

event will get under way in
Exhibition Hall on the Timonium
fairground at 8 a.m. The morning
program will begin in the same
location at 9:30 a.m. Early arrivals
will have the opportunity to visit
commercial exhibits in the
fairground’s 4-H and Home Arts
Building before the formal
education activities get started.
Free coffee and doughnuts will be
served.

Conrad reports that $3 lunch and
admission tickets are now
available from most county Ex
tension offices in Pennsylvania,
Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey,
Virginia and West Virginia. They
should be purchased in advance,
not later than Dec. 5. More than
1,500 farmers and
agribusinessmen from the six
state area are expected to attend.
The Maryland state fairground,
site of this year’s no-till con
ference, is located in the 2200 block
of York Road in Timonium, north
of Baltimore. If coming from the
north on highway 1-83, turn off at
exit 17A and make a right on York
Road. Proceed two-thirds of a mile
and make another right-hand turn
at the fairground’s north gate
near the 4-H and Home Arts
Building.
