Delmarva Poultry
Thursday, October 6
Report supplied by USDA
Market Comment: Ready to
cook movement on whole birds and
parts remain strong. Current
product is well cleared and some
plants reported being an oversold
position for the balance of this
week. Slaughter heavy overall
with a few plants noted as not
operating this coming Monday.
Live supplies are at least
adequate. Weights remain heavier
than desired overall. Undertone
fair.
Today’s L.T.L. asking prices are
.01 higher on U.S. Grade A at 49-54
cents.
Estimated slaughter of broiler
fryers in Delmarva (000).
Estimated 10/61,913; Actual 9/29

Thursday, October 6
Report supplied by USDA
Market Comment: Prices un
changed. Undertone is steady but a
little unsettled as some resistance
is noted at the finished product
level. Offerings of live are light but
sufficient to keep plants running
all schedules. Canner pack
movement is no better than fair.
Prices Paid at Farm:
Light Type Hens: 12-13, mostly
12-12%.
F. 0.8. Plant: 15-15%, mostly
15%.
± 6 eggs = Profit/Loss
According to Waymon Halbrook, University of Arkansas
Agricultural Economist, in todays poultry economy the difference
between losing and making money on your flock could be in the
last Vi dozen eggs each hen in your house produces. DeKalb
layers are consistently leading the competition in total profit
performance which includes egg numbers. What are you basing
your next pullet chick order on? A penny or two savings on chick
cost? OR 25' per pullet housed on egg income? That’s $15,000
on a 60,000 bird house. YOU BE THE JUDGE!

Philadelphia Eggs
Thursday, October 6
Report supplied by USDA
MARKET COMMENT: Prices
are unchanged. Carton egg
movement is fair to occasional!)
good. Most traders indicate that
the degree of featuring has
lessened and normal business has
also tapered to some degree. In
creased availability due to cooler
weather coupled with high retail
prices has enabled dealers
completely fill orders on jumbo
and extra large, but supply of large
is ample. Excess graded loose
large are easily available and
usually at discounts while class
one’s have become available and
premiums are not usually being
sought even for heavier weights
Mediums are barely adequate to
adequate, and there is a fairly
active call noted for class three’s
and some quarters although
pockets of mediums are available
locally.

volume buyers, consumer grades
