Hallowell gets
national post

Hallowell was elected president
elect of the National Association of
State Departments of Agriculture
(NASDA) at its annual meeting
Sept. 18-21 in Jackson, Miss.
As president-elect, Hallowell is
m line for election to the NASDA
presidency in 1904. He has served
the organization in the past as a
member of its executive board and
as president of the Northeast
Association of State Departments
of Agriculture.
Leonard Kunzman, Director of
the Oregon Department of
Agriculture was elected president
of the Association and James B.
Boillot, Director of the Missouri
Department of Agriculture was
elected vice-president. S. Mason
Carbaugh, Commissioner of the
Virginia Department of
Agriculture and Consumer Ser
vices was reelected as secretary
treasurer of NASDA.

NASDA meets twice each year to
review national agricultural
developments, meet with
agricultural leaders and to adopt
national “policy positions’’ which
represent the collective thought of
the Association.

on behalf of the farm and
agricultural businesses ,of the
state,” Hallowell said. “Penn
sylvania is an agricultural leader
and this election demonstrates a
recognition of Pennsylvania
agriculture’s importance in the
U.S. agriculture picture.”

on hand during August 1983 was 269
million. Egg production per 100
layers during August was 2,084.
