Del. Holstein seminar, sale on Nov. 2 & 3
NEWARK, Del. - The 1983
Southeastern Holstein Seminar
and Show Window Sale will be held
Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 2
and 3 in Newark Del. The event is
being sponsored by the Delaware
Holstein Association and the
University of Delaware
Cooperative Extension Service.
The seminar will begin at 12-.30
p.m. Wednesday at Howard
Johnson’s Motor Lodge on route
8% just north of the Newark 1-95
exit. It will feature talks by Robert
Everett, of Cornell University, on
the use of Am-Pm testing in sire
proofs, and C.W. Heald, of Penn
State, on lower somatic cell counts
and their effect on milk produc
tion.
Following will be a five-state
panel of farm couples from
Delaware, Maryland, Penn
sylvania, New Jersey, and West
Virginia. Each couple will discuss
some aspect of dairying, including
getting started in the business;
wives as full partners; involving
children in the business; tran
sferring the dairy farm from one

ticipants at 7 p.m. Banquet tickets
cost $l5 per person.
Spouses may sign up for an af
ternoon tour of nearby Winterthur
Museum and Gardens instead of
attending the seminar. Tour
tickets cost $6.
The Show Window Sale will take
place on Thursay, November 3, at
11 a.m. at the University of
Delaware dairy farm located a
mile and a half north of the motel.
The sale will feature rattle

Jim Zimmerman, who is associated with J.B. Zimmerman &
Sons, Blue Ball, recently attended the OeLaval Agri-Systems
Academy to take part on a comprehensive course in the Basic
Milking System. The course included in-depth classroom
instruction and hands-on training with various DeLava)
