    Apple Market News
The Apple Market News begins another year of service for the apple
growers of Pennsylvania. This apple season approaches with con
siderable uncertainty due to the dry weather conditions experienced
statewide. It has been reported that the small to medium size bag apples
will be very plentiful but the larger size traypnck apple will net.
The market indicators point to a strong apple market:
1. Buyer contacts report that the buyers expect the market to be
stronger and higher than last year.
2. The economic attitude of the nation will stimulate consumer spen
ding, thus increased fruit sales.
3. The Apple Marketing Board has increased its media
advertising budget to 1120,000. All the major population areas statewide
will receive radio and TV apple promotional advertisements.
4. The early apple market has been strong all summer. Prices for 12/3#
bags were 18.00 to 19.00.
5. Carryover of canned supplimentary fruits are down.
6. Exports are expected to increase; Europe’s crop is down. Deals with
South America currently are in the works.
7. There are no fresh apples being earned over from the 1982 crop
The conditions are nght for an excellent apple marketing season
