    Weimer shows Holstein grand
| NEW OXFORD Jenny
Weimer, a member of the
Conewago-New Oxford FFA,
showed her 3-year-old Holstein
Erica, to the senior championship
and. the grand championship of the
Holstein division at the South
Central FFA Dairy Show. Along
with Erica, Jenny took 2 senior
calves to the show, and earned a
2nd place blue ribbon and a 4th
place blue ribbon with her calves.
Six other members of the
Conewago-New Oxford FFA also
competed at the dairy show. Harry
Holstein grand champion at southcentral FFA dairy show is
exhibited by Jenny Weimer, of Conewago-New Oxford FFA.

Stahl showed his junior yearling,
Alda, and earned a 6th place and a
white ribbon. A brother and sister
team showed a pair of senior
yearlings. Aaron and Sarah Myers
both placed well with their heifers.
Aaron showed Norma and earned a
4th place and a blue ribbon, while
Sarah showed Elmira earning a
red ribbon m 7th place. Brian Ness,
showing for the first tune, showed
his junior two year old Norma and
received a 3rd place and a white
ribbon. Eldon Baum, also showing
a three-year-old with Weimer,

showed Louise earning a 4th place
and a red ribbon. Josie Hess
showing her four year old Cookie,
received a 2nd place and a blue
ribbon.
Three students, Aaron Myers,
Josie Hess, and Jenny Weuner,
earned their way to the State FFA
Dairy Show in September. These
students received this honor by
showing an animal that earned a
blue ribbon. Myers and Hess will
each show one animal, while
Weuner has the honor of showing
two animals, her 3 year old Enca
and her senior calf Echo.
Along with the honors the
students received for the show,
they were also a big part in Adams
County winning the Good
Housekeeping Award. This award
is given to the county which keeps
its area the cleanest during the
two-day stay. Along with their part
in the county award, the
Conewago-New Oxford Chapter
came m second place in the
chapter part of the good
housekeeping competition.

KNITTELFELD, Austria - Jeff
SlolUfus, of R 1 Atglen, member of
the Octorara FFA, has spent the
last 10 weeks living and working
with the Josef Herk family on their
dairy farm and forestry operation
in Knittelfeld, Austria
His duties on the Herk's farm
have included milking and feeding
the herd of 24 Brown Swiss dairy
cows, assisting with making hay on
the 100-acre farm, as well as
working in the logging operation on

Sloltzfus has also visited the
Austrian cities of Vienna, Salzburg
and Innsbruck He has par
ticipated in numerous local
community and cultural events
Stoltzfus lived and worked with
the Austrian farm family as a
participant in the FFA's Work
Expenence Abroad program
"WEA has enabled me to ex
perience the culture as well as the
agriculture of another country,"
he said.

that cannot be found in travel
