were sponsored. The plaques were
made locally of solid walnut.
In the Ayrshire breed the
plaques were sponsored by 5-M
Milling of Meadville, in memory of
Ayrshire breeder Diaries Fields,
Premier Breeder was awarded to
Roshel Farm, owned by Robert S.
& Elizabeth Dorchester, of Albion.
Premier Exhibitor went to Kline
Farm, owned by William & Wilda
Kline, of Mars.
The Premier awards for the
Brown Swiss breed were sponsored
by Conneautville Farmers Ex
change. Both plaques went to Par-
Nic Farm owned by Earl Nicolls
and family, of Conneautville.
The Guernsey breeders who
received both Premier Breeder
and Premier Exhibitor awards
was Dolly Run Farm, owned by
Paul E. & John E. Kunz Families,
of Centerville. The sponsor for both
awards was the Mercer/Northwest
Guernsey Association.
Spruce Row Jersey Farm
received Premier Breeder and
Premier Exhibitor for their work
on Thursday afternoon. The farm
is owned by Charles Hotson and
Jeff & Janet Peters with Diane
Kasbee as herdsperson. The
premier breeder award was
sponsored by Bob & Della Wright
of Wright-Way Farm, Cochranton.
The premier exhibitor award was
given by Dave & Donna Reusing of
New Hope Farm, Meadville.
Although there were more
Milking Shorthorn than usual both
awards went to the same exhibitor.
Mar-Vi-Nic Farm of Springboro,
owned by Martin Gessner received
both awards and also sponsoicd
both of them.
The colored breeders enjoyed a
picnic lunch during the break
between shows. Judges for the
show also enjoyed the dinner.
Judge Dave Dowler, Mercer Co.
Extension Agent and Crawford Co.
dairy farmer, judged the ring of
Ayrshires, Brown Swiss and
Milking Shorthorn. Don Koontz, a
Jersey farmer from Fredonia,
worked with the Jerseys and
Guernseys throughout the day.
The Jersey show was quite
impressive both with the quality
and quantity of cattle. There were
110 Jerseys shown August 25 at the
Craw. Co. Fair. Total colored
breed dairy shown was 297.
