The new Butler system
physically opens the stanchions
rather than merely releasing the
locks. Versatility is built into the
system since each stall has an
independent locking device that
can be kept locked or opened as
desired to allow greater control of
specific animals. Each stall
measures 4 foot wide and 4 foot x
SV« inches high from the top of the
curb to the underside of the top
rail. A quadruple-curve design
places the partition base 6 inches
farther away from the gutter
moisture zone than other designs.
Hot-dip galvanized pressed steel
water cups are also available for
use with the stalls.
Butler recently formed the
Livestock Systems operating unit.
The new company resulted from a
consolidation of Butler’s
Jamesway and Oswalt divisions.
Headquartered in Fort Atkinson,
the firm manufactures and
markets feed and manure handling
systems.

Robert McDowell, center, of Christiana, is honored for
breeding 100,000 first services at the annual meeting of the
National Association of Animal Breeders at Anaheim, Calif.
McDowell, a technician with Atlantic Breeders Cooperative
who performed the 100,000 th service earlier this year,
receives award from Harry Roth, Atlantic's Director of
Operations and outgoing NAAB president. Looking on is
McDowell's daughter, Heather.
Lehigh picks ASCS head
ALLENTOWN - Harold Rex,
New Tripoli, chairperson of the
Lehigh County Agricultural
Stabilization and. Conservation
(ASC) Committee, has announced
the appointment of Michael P,
Macker as County Executive
Director.
Macker recently completed the
ASCS County Operations Trainee
Program in preparation for his
County Executive Director
assignment. Macker is a graduate
of Bloomsburg State University
and Penn State with degrees in
education and environmental
resource management. Macker’s
previous experience with ASCS
was in the Schuylkill County ASCS
Office where he served as a
Program Assistant for four years.
Macker will direct the Lehigh
County ASCS Office activities in
agency conservation, production
