D 14 —Lancaster Fanning, Saturday, August 27,1983 TROY Cattle competition was the scene as dairy enthusiasts competed in the 4-H and FFA, Open Holstein and Open Colored Breed Shows at the Troy Fair, July 26,28 and 29. Competition began with a combined 4-H and FFA Show, July 26, featuring the Holstein, Ayr shire, Brown Swiss, Guernsey and Jersey breeds. Following the class competition, showmanshm and fitting contests were held. Grand champion winners were: Holstein Tern Packard, Troy, and 3-year-old Pack-Herd Elevation Brassey; Ayrshire Vonda Andrus, Towanda, and her senior yearling Wm-Ayr C.P. Nan; Brown Swiss Donald Cole Jr., Columbia Cross Roads, and 3-year old High Spruce Beau Sonya; Guernsey Michelle Wright, Canton, and her 4-year-old cow, Way View Fayvor’s Cathy; and Jersey Lisa Chapman, Columbia Cross Roads, and her 4- year-old cow. Named the reserve grand champion winners were: Holstein Tern Packard, Troy, and Pack- Herd Jaguar Bronze, a 4-year-old; Brown Swiss Ellen Mane Cole, Columbia Cross Roads, and her Si year-old High Spruce Beau Lorn; Guernsey Stacey Travis Brackman, Canton, and 3-year-old Leßoydales Deacon Lynne; Jersey Brian and Patricia Watson, Columbia Cross Roads, and Smokey Hill Samson Candy, a Si year-old. In the Class A, ages 8 to 11, showmanship contest, Daniel Hoppough was named winner while Jon Brackman won the class fitting contest. Michelle Wright and Tammi Swam were the Class B, ages 12 to 13, showmanship and fitting winners, respectively. Class C, ages 15 and over, honors went to Carl Aden, showmanship, and Jack Belcher Jr., fitting. In the Holstein Show, Pack-Herd Farm, owned by the Richard and Marilyn Packard Family, Troy, was named both the premier breeder and premier exhibitor. The show’s grand champion was Royal-Haven Unique Crisco, a 6- year-old owned by Ben and Regina Jackson, Columbia Cross Roads. Reserve champion honors went to the Packards and their 3-year-old, Pack-Herd Willo Bingo. Earning both the premier breeder and exhibitor honors in the Colored Breed Show were the Brackman Family, Canton, in the Guernsey breed, and the William Eick family of Columbia Cross Roads, in the Jersey category. No Ayrshire or Brown Swiss winners were named.
