and slapped the rump of the 1210-
lb. Chianina-Angus shown by
Dawn Hoff, of R 1 Manchester, Md.
The 17-year-old daughter of Dale
and Sylvia Hoff previously had
shown the animal to the grand
championship of the Carroll
County Fair. The calf came out of
Whitewood Chianma Farm, The
Plains, Va.
For the reserve grand champion,
Gillooly went to thd heavyweight
calf of Fritz C. Frey, of R 2
QuarryviUe. The 1260-lb. three
eighth Chianma and five-eighth
Angus was previously shown to the
grand championship in New
Jersey. It came from Rally Farm
in New York State.
In addition to the 52-entry steer
show, the day-long event included
a heifer show, judging and weight
guessing contest, fun auction and
open pit barbecue.
