Laura England

Altoona Collegian, was a member
of the Campus Executive Council,
and was scorer-statistician for the
campus wrestling team. She
, received the Eric A. and Josephine
Walker Award for leadership and
service.
During her remaining two years
at the University Park Campus,
Laura was involved in a number of
student activities and was named a
runner-up in the College of
Agriculture Outstanding Senior
contest. She was editor of both the
Ag Activator and the Penn State
Dairyman, the Dairy Science
Club's annual yearbook and
program of events for the Dairy
Exposition.
Other activities included: the Ag
Student Council; Dairy Science
Club; the Collegiate FFA; Coaly
Society; Alpha Tau Alpha; Delta
Theta Sigma Fraternity; Lion
Ambassadors, the university
student alumni corps; and Parmi
Nous, an all-university senior
honor society.
A daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
William England of Williamsburg
Rl, Laura has been involved in the
operation of the family dairy farm.
The Englands, named Blair
County’s Farm Family of the Year
in 1961, milk 150 Holsteins three
times daily and raise an additional
150 cattle on their 311 acres.
Growing up on a farm en
couraged Laura to participate in
several youth-related activities.
She was involved in 4-H and
carried projects in dairy, sewing,
the county exchange program and
attended the Pennsylvania
Association of Farmers
Cooperatives summer institute.
She was a member of the FFA and
in 1979 received the state Keystone
Farmers Degree. Also in 1979, she
helped to promote the dairy in
dustry by serving as the Blair
County Dairy princess.
Laura’s major responsibilities at
Lancaster Fanning will be to
cover livestock production and
areas of diversified agriculture.
