made greeting card. It uses the
“monoprint” techniques described
in “The Art and Craft of Greeting
Cards,” by Susan Evarts, North
Light Publishers.
In her book, Evarts shows how to
make cards by stenciling, silk
screening, rubbing, lettering,
etching, collage, and other
techniques. Each technique is
illustrated by imaginative cards.
In her chapter on stamping, for
example, Evarts shows how to say
“Happy Arbor Day” by printing
with fresh broccoli.
The monoprint technique
described in her book requires
printing inks or oil-based paints,
sturdy paper and some ordinary
household supplies. In mono
printing, the design is
painted on glass or acetate and
then stamped onto paper.
In monoprinting, even if you use
the same design over and over
again, each print will be slightly
different, and each card an
original. Also, since paints tend to
spread in the monoprint process,
the finished design has delicate.
