beef trade dictated weaker packer
bids, buyers of two-way steers, for

market. Numerous loads of cattle
suitable for this trade were
marketed through the week;
consequently overall finish was
less attractive than recent
sessions. Prices bolstered also by
the fact that packer inventories
ran generally on the short side and
purchases were being made for
close-up slaughter.
