    CANTON Anita Wrisley, 17-
year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Jacob Wrisley of R 3, Troy, was
crowned the new 1983 Bradford
County Dairy Princess at the
climax of a colorful pageant held
Saturday evening, May 21, at the
Canton High School Auditorium.
Miss Wrisley is a student at the
Troy Area High School where''she
is active in the agricultural course.
Her FFA activities include speech,
wildlife, meats and forestry
contests, parlimentary law, cattle
judging, dairy records, and FFA
State Chorus. She is a member of
the school play, student faculty
senate, marching band, concert
band, bowling, church choir and
Sunday School Clowns.
Named first alternate was
Luanne Crayton, 17, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Crayton of Rl,
Monroeton.
9 Second alternate and also Miss
Congeniality was Miss Leigh Ann
Wilcox, 16, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. George Wilcox of Rl, Canton.
Thirteen enthusiastic con
testants vied for the title, one of the
largest numbers of farm girls ever
to compete in the 20-year history of
the Bradford County Dairy
Festival. Other contestants were
Vonda Andrus, Sheryl Avery,
Betsey Brister, Lisa Brown, Ruth
Finnerty, Mary French, Elaine
13 girls compete
Inturrisi, Pamela Kittle, Lisa Me
Murray, and Carrie Tinsley.
Gary Green, dairy farmer
from Neath, served as Master ofi
Ceremonies for the evening
pageant.
Valane Moon, retiring 1962 prin
cess, began her farewell
speech by thanking everyone for
the privilege of being dairy
princess.
John Vamey, organist, provided
program music, and the Cob
blestones, a musical group from
the Troy Area High School, en
tertained the audience while
judges Susan Welch of Bradford
County, Maureen Pease of
Susquehanna County, and James
Pullins of Fayetteville, New York,
made their decisions.
The pageant climaxed a day full
of activities in down-town Canton.
Following the large 72-unit parade,
there, was a milking-contest won by
Bud Secules of Troy who collected
4.9 pounds of milk in onejninute,
and a milk drinking relay won by a
four-man team of the Canton FFA
who each chugged a full quart of
milk and won the event in one
minute and 58 seconds.
Square dancing, a pet zoo, many
arts and crafts exhibits, food
concessions including free milk to
drink, and other attractions
highlighted the festival attended
by a large crowd.
