winners m the state’s largest
annual sewing competition,
sponsored by the State and
National Grange organizations.
The Grange’s contest is the only
nationwide competition for sewing,
and is co-sponsored by Simplicity
Patterns, Singer, B. Blumenthal
and Company, Risdon Sewing
Notions and C.M. Offray and Son.

Pa. Grange names sewing contest winners
Competition started at the local
level, with county winners com
peting in the state competition.
State winners will proceed to
National Grange for national
eliminations to be held in mid-
June. Jeanette Tewksbury, state
director of women’s activities, said
1,554 entries were placed m this
year’s contest at the local level,
representing approximately 150
local Granges. Both members and
non-members of the Grange
participate in the contest.

representing all ages groups are as
follows:

Second - Ida B. Preto, Cabot,
Butler County.
Third - Holly Jane Vaow,
Laceyville, Susquehanna County.
