COLUMBUS, OH. - Several top
speakers will be featured at the
1963 Annual Meetings of The
American Jersey Cattle Club and
National All-Jersey Inc. The
meetings will be held June 20-22 in
Wooster, Ohio, coinciding with the
100th anniversary of the Ohio
Jersey Breeders Association.
Pat Leimbach, Vermillion, Ohio,
the entertaining and enthusiastic
author of “Country Wife”
newspaper column, will be the
featured speaker at the NAJ
breakfast, June 21. She is the
author of two books, “A Thread of
Blue Denim” and “All my
Meadows.” Much of Pat’s work
has also been published in the
Farm Journal.
John White, professor and head
of the dairy science department of
Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Va.,
heads the program for the AJCC
Annual Meeting on Wednesday,

Jersey meetings celebrate XOOth anniversary
spoke at the organization’s Annual
Meeting in Virginia in 1976, has
won numerous awards for his
teaching skills at Va. Tech. He is
also known for his extensive dairy
research.
Richard Kellogg, Columbus,
Ohio, will be honored as the Out
standing Genetic Recovery Agent
for the AJCC at Wednesday’s
annual meeting. Kellogg has been
very active enrolling Jerseys
under the GR program from coast
to coast. He also served as
chairman of the committee that
developed the joint Genetic
Recovery Program now in use by
the Guernsey and Jersey
associations.
Special programs for Jersey
juniors attending the convention
will be offered throughout the
three-day event. A junior
hospitality room will be set up at
the Ramada Inn, with the Ohio
Jersey Juniors serving

Tuesday has been designated
"Fun Day” with bowling or roller
skating offered in the morning and
a swimming party to be held in the
afternoon. There will be a junior
social hour following the National
Heifer Sale and Ohio Centennial
Sale.
Wednesday morning, Ed
Johnson, founder and president of
Agn Communicators, Inc., of
Columbus, Ohio, will be the Master
of Ceremonies for the Junior
Jersey Breakfast. Johnson, a 20-
year farm broadcast veteran, is
actively involved with youth and
has been honored by the Future
Farmers of America and 4-H.

Soil erosion
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The
chairman of the Senate Soil and
Water Conservation Subcommittee
has announced that nationwide
hearings on soil erosion problems
will be held during late May and
June.
Sen. Roger W. Jepsen (R-Iowa)
said today his subcommittee mil
hold hearings m Mississippi,
Kentucky, lowa and Vermont to
examine local soil problems and
hear recommendations for public
policy changes to improve this
condition.

equal to about 1.5 million acres of
productive farmland.”

spotlight the need for increased
soil and water conservation ef
forts. We need a coherent con
servation policy in order to
maintain our position as the most
successful food-producing nation
in the world.”
The Northeast U.S. hearing will
be held in Brattleboro, Vermont.
