Omaha Cattle Thursday, June 2 Report Supplied By USD A Through midweek slaughter steers and heifers ranged steady to 50 cents higher than previous week’s close. Cows steady to 50 cents higher. Bulls steady. A broad demand on steers suitable for C.M.E. Delivery or further feeding not only prevented an anticipated break in live prices, but provided impetus for some gams. A large percentage of the available steer supply found outlets outside normal channels, forcing regular market interests to compete briskly for the balance of the steers and for the heifers. Overall finish continues fair, ie a mix of attractive offermgs and weather stressed stock, but in general most cattle appear to have had adequate feeding periods. Steers comprised 45 percent of the week’s receipts: Heifers 38 percent, cows 6 percent; feeders 10 percent. Three day receipts 9454, last week 12306, year ago 10170.
