THOMAS KAUSKY 412-349-5987 (Indiana Store) Uncaster Fanninc.Saturday, May 28,1983 Farm Museum plans annual “Craft Days” LANCASTER - The twenty seventh annual “Craft Days” weekend will be held Saturday and Sunday, June 4 and 5, from noon until 5 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Farm Museum of Landis Valley. “Craft Days” is an outdoor festival featuring demonstrations of more than forty different crafts and activities associated with Pennsylvania life from 1750 to 1900. At “Craft Days", visitors can leam to rope a bed, make com pone and use a schinitzelbank. Other demonstrations will include mg hooking blacksmithing, egg scratching and leather working. Visitors will be able to see the Veterinary Office, Isaac Landis Gallery, and the Grossdmutter House, areas open only on special occasions. Allison Kaufman and other members of the Getz family of Lancaster will dry fruits and vegetables in a dry house as a farm wife might have done one hundred years ago. The following is a listing of “Craft Days” activities: Baking, Bandbox making, Bargello em broidery, Bullet molding, Cabinetmaking, Candle dipping, Chair caning. Coopering, Counted Thread Embroidery, Fraktur, Gasoline Engines, Gunsmithing, Lacemaking, Open hearth cooking, Paper warbling. Pottery, Punch Paper Embroidery, Quilting, Rug Braiding, Rye straw basketry, Scherenschnitte, Shoemaking, Spinning, Splint basketry. Sten ciling Stone cutting, Tatting, Ten plate stove cooking, Theorem painting. Tinsel painting, Weather vane making, Weaving, Whittling, and Wood turning. There will be a three-dollar admission charge for ages six through sixty-four; persons age sixty-five and over will be charged two dollars; and children tinder six will be admitted free. Members of the Landis Valley Associates will also be admitted free of charge. The Pennsylvania Farm Museum of Landis Valley is located four miles north of Lan caster on Route 272, on the Oregon Pike. “Craft Days” is sponsored by the Landis Valley Associates of the Pennsylvania Farm Museum and the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
