COCHRANVILLE June 4 is going to be a day full of exciting events, here. The Strawberry Festival is being field that day with activities arranged for young and old throughout the entire day. The Festival is being climaxed this year with the Chester County Dairy Princess Pageant being held in the evening in the Community Center. In this year’s pageant wc have four girls who will vie for the title. They are Denise Ambler, daughter of Robert H. and Nancy Ambler of Cochranville: Lisa A. Growl, daughter of Lenore K. Growl of Oxford; Jewell King, daughter of Joseph S. and Cathy King of Cochranville; and Helen Ann McCahon, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Joseph McCahon of Downingtown. Denise is a 17-year-old sophomore at Octorara High School who would like to become a veterinarian. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the High School Chorus, and FFA. Denise was the reporter for FFA this year and will be a student adviser for the school year 83-84. In the community, Denise is a member of the Cochranville Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Golden Fleece 4-U Club and has shown sheep at several fairs. The Amblers have 60 cattle of Ayrshires and Holsteins. Lisa is a senior at Oxford High School and is 17 years old. She will be attending Goldey Beacom College this fall in the executive secretarial curriculum. In high school Lisa was a member of the Marching Band Front, Student Council, FBLA, National Honor Society, Who’s Who Among American High School Students. She is a member of the Presbyterian Church in Oxford. The Crowl family own 34 cattle of Guernseys and Holsteins. Jewell is 17 years old and also attends Octorara High School She would like to attend West Chester State College to become a teacher or major in drama. Jewell is a member of the Marching and Concert Band at Octorara and a member of the school newspaper staff. She is also involved in FFA, the yearbook advertising staff, softball, and the school play. She is active in her church youth group and is a teacher for Primary Church, along with attending “Youth for Christ” activities. The Kings own 70 Holsteins. Helen is another 17 year old and is a senior at Villa Maria Academy. She would like to attend college and then veterinary school. She is the past president and present secretary of the Chester Valley 4-H Dairy Club, a member of the 4-H County Council, junior member of the American Jersey Cattle Club and the Holstein Friesian Association of America, and presently president of the St. Joseph’s Youth Group.
