energy,” said Senator Moore. “It
is my hope that other school
districts will begin simular
programs to enrich the educational
experiences of their students. ”
The Lehman’s Egg Service
Award was received by Galen
Buckwalter, company president,
for substantial reduction of their
electrical consumption. This
savings resulted from installing a
trash burner in the physical plant,
which is designed to burn waste
such as packing material and
corrugated boxes, producing heat
for the egg washers.
“Not only have the trash
removal expenses been
eliminated, but so has the cost of
fuel used in heating their process
hot water,” Moore continued.
“Lehman’s Egg Service is leading
the way for other commercial
volume hot water users to look to
trash and other burnable waste as
a valuable fuel.”
The GEC offers awards to
businesses, commercial
establishments, local govern
ments, private organizations,
agricultural concerns and in
dividuals who are involved with an
energy saving program or have
used alternative energy resources.
The award applicant must have
proven energy reduction over a 12
month period or must demonstrate
creative approaches to saving
energy.
The Governor’s Energy Council
is a 19 member group of public and
private sector representatives who
advise the Commonwealth on
energy related issues. The council
is chaired by Lieutenant Governor
William W. Scranton HI.
