to see this attraction of Tioga
County, so they can’t all be wrong.
Tioga County has exceptional
turkey hunting; Pine Creek is
known for its trout fishing, and the
lakes near Wells boro offer 15 miles
of boating, fishing and water
skiing. Then there’s the untold
number of hiking trails and well
marked snowmobile trails in the
area to explore.
In June there is the Penn
sylvania State Laurel festival. July
offers a Polish Festival in nearby
Morris, and in October, about 35
miles away m Cherry Spring, is the
Woodsman Carnival.
Although Wellsboro is a small
community, it is by no means lost
in time. It boasts a modern 1211-bed
community hospital, churches of
most major denominations, and a
28,000 volume public library
housed in a gracious, old white
porticoed converted house.
The population of Tioga County
is approximately 38,000 and dairy
farming is the largest income
producer. Potatoes and lumbering
also produce a goodly share of the
county’s income, and naturally,
tourism is a major source of cash
flow for die residents of this nor
thern county.
