Ag Career Days held
UNIVERSITY PARK - The
first annual Ag Career Days
Tuesday, March 22, sponsored by
the Pennsylvania Department of
Agriculture, the College of
Agriculture, and Alpha Gamma
Rho agricultural fraternity drew
21 ag-related employers.
Agway, Sperry-New Holland,
Dow Chemical, Ralston Purina,
the Pennsylvania Red Meats
Board, the Peace Crops, and the
Pennsylvania Farmer were only a
few who participated in the all day
event entitled “Meet Your Future
Employer." More than 600
students talked with represen
tatives about prospects for em
ployment.
“The Ag students are really
impressive.” “What a great turn
out - I’m glad students aren’t
leaving their careers to the last
minute!” These were just two of
the many favorable comments
from business representatives at
the end of the day.
In addition to talking with em
ployers directly, students attended
seminars on careers in
agriculture: Equal Opportunity in
Agricultural Careers, The Im
portance of Internships in
Education, and Who is a Qualified
Graduate, which were conducted
by sponsors and representatives.
