Firming SkttrfkK MMtth' 19; MgS I*-* 1 *-* Milk handlers and producer groups under the New York-New Jersey and Middle Atlantic Federal milk orders have requested that the Department of Agriculture hold a public hearing to consider proposals to extend Federal order regulation to areas of northeastern Pennsylvania which presently are not included in a Federal order marketing area. Proposals to add the following 12 Pennsylvania counties to the Middle Atlantic marketing area were received; Berks, Carbon, Columbia, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Montour, Northampton, Northumberland, Schuylkill, Snyder, and Union. A proposal was also received to expand the New York-New Jersey Federal order marketing area to include all of the above counties plus 11 others. The 23 Penn sylvania counties that would be added are: Berks, Bradford, Carbon, Clinton, Columbia, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Luzerne, Lycoming, Monroe, Montour, Northampton, Northumberland, Pike, Potter, Schuylkill, Snyder, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Union, Wayne, and Wyoming. Other proposals would add 20 of the same counties to the New York- New Jersey marketing area, leaving out Berks, Lehigh, and Northampton Counties. The proposals have not yet been approved for inclusion in a notice of hearing. Before deciding whether these proposals should be considered at a public hearing, interested parties are invited to submit additional proposals for consideration at a possible hearing. Particular attention should be given to order changes, such as the applicable Class I prices for any newly regulated area, that may need to be made in each order if the marketing areas are expanded as proposed. Proposals should be stated in specific terms so that the hearing issues would be clearly set forth. Four copies of the proposals should be mailed to: Deputy Ad ministrator, Marketing Program Operations, Agricultural Marketing Service, U.S. Depart ment of Agriculture, Washington, D.C. 20250, by April 15,1953. Lancaster, PA 393-6530 Order No. 4 Proposes Each proposal should be ac companied by a brief but com prehensive statement on the need for the proposal. The statement will be used in deciding whether che proposal should be considered at a hearing. A hearing would be limited to the proposals included in a bearing notice. However, appropriate modifications of proposals in cluded in the notice also may be considered at the hearing if the modifications would not enlarge the marketing area or regulate persons not now subject to the order. Any proposals that would extend regulation should be ac companied by the names and addresses of persons that would be affected by the proposed extension and an estimate of the number of additional dairy farmers involved. In addition, proposals that would enlarge the marketing area should be accompanied by the following data and views with respect to each territory proposed to be added: Please semi me free information mi □ Cattieguards Feed Bunks Address City • 1.
