B22—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, March 19,1983 Berks Dairy Clubs honor members LEESPORT - The Berks County 4-H Dairy Clubs held their annual banquet Friday, March 4 at the Virginville Grange. Close to 200 4-H members, leaders, and community supporters attended. Karen Taylor, Berks County Extension agent, cited the 4-H Dairy Club leaders for their role in strengthening the Berks County 4- H Dairy Program. Serving as officers of the Berks County 4-H Dairy Council this past year were Bill Zollers, Mertztown, president; John Stump, Bemville, vice president; Donna Stump, Bernville, secretary; and Delores Adam, Hamburg, Treasurer. Helen Seidel, 1982 Berks County Dairy Princess, spoke about “Milk: Fitness You Can Drink” and helped with the presentation of awards. Trophies were presented to the following members for their outstanding 4-H Dairy Project Books: 8 & 9 year old division - Scott Youse, Oley, Eastern Berks 4-H Dairy Club Member; 10 & 11 year old division - Tammy Balthaser, Bemville, Western Berks 4-H Club Member; 12 & 13 year old division - Lynn Krick, Lenhartsville, Virginville 4-H Dairy Club Member; 14 & 15 year old division - Susan Troutman, Myerstown, Stouchburgs 4-H Dairy Club Member; 16 & 17 year old division - Debbie Price, Douglassville, Eastern Berks 4-H Dairy Club Member; and 18 & 19 year old division - Gary Kurtz, Fleetwood, Eastern Berks 4-H Dairy Club Member. Serving as dairy bowl coaches for the past year were Ken Fabian, Bemville; Helen Seidel, Kutztown; and George Merrill, Bemville. The Berks County 4-H Dairy Judging Team was also cited for their second place finish at Penn sylvania 4-H State Achievement Days. Team members included; Patti Dreisbach, Hamburg; Todd Miller, Hamburg; Charles Seidel, Lenhartsville; and Jimmy Younker, Fleetwood.
