This year’s market development
and research projects were
selected from 18 proposals sub
mitted to the Board. Mr. Hastings
said that the Board continued to
expand its market development
efforts by providing $25,000
towards the American Soybean
Association’s international
programs. As a new research
project, the Board has initiated a
task force, of Research and Ex
tension personnel, to determine the
factors contributing to soybean
yields on Delaware farms. Ad
ditional research projects range
from soybean variety tests to
controlling Giant Ragweed
problems. Recipients of grants are
the American Soybean
Association, the Delaware
Cooperative Extension Serevice

Soybean Board will be providing
funds for 11 market development
and research projects this year.
The Soybean Board’s Chairman,
John Hastings, announced that this
year the Board continued to place
its emphasis upon market
development and applied research
projects that benefit Delaware
producers. Hastings explained that
in these times of low soybean
prices and high production costs,
we need to continue research that
lowers our production costs while
we are developing marketing
opportunities. A total of $59,500
was granted for the projects in this
the third year of the Delaware
soybean farmers self-help
program.
