close, Slaughter Steers and Heifers
ended the period .50 lower. Cows
1.00-2.00 lower. Bulls'steady to 1.00
lower.
Losses on fed cattle were held to
a minimum in relationship to much
sharper declines on dressed beef;
as light packer inventories forced
some purchases for immediate
slaughter. Modest terminal
receipts combined with a light
country movement to keep live
supplies at a minimum. Muddy
cattle continue to be a problem in
the trade; although not quite as
severe as some recfent weeks.
Steers comprised 45 pet of the
week's receipts; Heifers 36 pet;
Cows 10 pet; Feeder 7 pet. Four
