price in the United States is higher
than the world price.
In conclusion, Dr. Mix outlined
what must happen to turn milk
prices around.
(1) There must be a decrease in
cow numbers by 600,000 to 800,000.
(2) Must advertise and promote
dairy products at the 1 percent
level.
(3) Must increase commercial
use by 6 to 8 billion pounds.
(4) Develop* new products and
new exports.
(5) Increase milk standards to
8.7% SNF and 3.5% fat. (Currently

The API organization is not new
to Baltimore. For the past year it
has been marketing and
distributing Abbotts and Old
Philadelphia ice cream. It also has
marketed here LactAid, a
specially digestible lowfat milk for
people with lactose intolerance.
(In the Philadelphia market, API
has been a significant advertiser of
branded milk products. Their
Lehigh Valley Farms LITE milk
has been promoted heavily for
several years.)
API plans to continue the
operation of the Baltimore plant
and provide umterrupted service
to customers previously served by
Damon Dairy in the Baltimore-
Washmgton market. Products will
be sold under the Sealtest label, as
well as several store brands.
Robert P. Barry, president of
Atlantic Processing, wrote to
Damon employees that “we
consider it a real opportunity to be
in the milk business and become a
larger part of the Baltimore-
Washington market.

Get two jobs done fast, right and
on time. Just ask your fertilizer
dealer to apply Sutan®+ herbicide in
combination with atrazine and/or
Bladex* with your choice of fertili
zer, dry or liquid. He’ll spread them.
You just incorporate.
You have four hours to incorporate.
Of course, your dealer can apply
your fertilizer impregnated with
Sutan+ faster than you can disc it
in. But you don’t have to worry about
Sutan+ losing any of its effective
ness. Because you’re allowed up to
a full four hours between applica
tion and incorporation.
