She owns a herd of 33 animals, two-thrids of them bred by her during project work in Junior Holstein and the Adams County 4-H dairy dub. A graduate of Littlestown High School, Chrissy is a senior at Virginia Polytechnic Institute. She’s a member of the Virginia Tech Dairy Club and Alpha Gamma Rho, the agricultural top milk, fat producers ERIE Junior - owned milking cattle take a back seat to no (me, as awards presented during last weekend’s Pennsylvania Holstein Association’s junior convention indicate. In 1981, Chrissy wona seat on the Virginia Tech dairy judging team, which placed first overall at the Eastern States Exposition. She took top honors in presenting oral reasons. Chrissy’s cattle have won numerous championships over the past several years and earned her Junior -All-Pennsylvania com petition honors. In the junior Perry County’s Irene Benner took top girl honors, while James Houser and Ross Hershberger tied in the boy’s competition. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Benner, Irene owns 13 head in the family’s Santee Acres herd at the Millerstowh R 2 farm. She’s a member of the Perry Dairy 4-H club, the Junior Holstein club and-an eighth grader at Green wood High School. In 1980, Irene won first place in an essay contest on “Why the Family Farm Should Last Forever,” and was cited by Penn State’s television “What’s in the News” contest. Ross Hershbergeris of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hershberger of Martinsburg.’A six-year veteran of working with Holsteins in Junior project and 4-H work, the young Bedford Countian has bred six of the 14 registered animals he owns in the family’s Bldacross herd. He’s a ninth grader at Northern Bedford High School, is active in agriculture, community events, and an enthusiastic exhibitor at cattleshows. James Houser is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Houser of -Spring Mills in Centre County. After six years of working with registered cattle in 4-H and'junior Holstein projects, he owns eight animals, half of them bred by him in the family’s Penn Dell Farms.
