The new lab is now located within a 40-mile radius of the firm’s production flocks. The primary purpose of the lab is to maintain the health of the Cobb’s pedigree lines in order to ensure a quality product for its customers. The Cobb lab was previously based in Milton, N.H. “Moving the lab to a more central location has increased our efficiency, improved com munication between management and research personnel, and enhanced our disease surveillance and quality control programs,” states Del Meyer, D.V.M., the lab’s quality control and technical services manager. ITHACA, N.Y. - “Report cards” have been issued for the 80 registered bulls at the conclusion of the first 28-day weigh period of the New York Bull Test. The overall average daily gain for the 80 bulls for the “first marking period” was 3.28 pounds. The 33 Angus bulls led the test group with an overall average daily gain of 3.55 pounds. Close behind were three Shorthorn bulls with an average daily gain of 3.51 pounds. The eleven Simmental bulls had an average daily gain of 3.10 pounds.
