Administrator Joseph D. Shine an
nounced a Class I milk price of
$15.40 per hundredweight (or
February IKS. This price is 6 cents
higher than the January price and
is 6 cents higher than last
February’s Class I price.
There is a 8-cent direct-delivery
differential applicable to producer
milk received at plants located
within 55 miles of Philadelphia.
Shine also announced a Class n
milk price of $12.70 per hun
dredweight for December 1982 and
a butterfat differential of 17.0 cents
for the month. The December
Class n milk price is 8 cents higher
than November 1962, and the but
terfat differential is unchanged.
These class prices are based on
the December 1962 Minnesota-
Wisconsin manufacturing milk
price of $12.62 per hundredweight
at a 3.5 parent butterfat content
The USDA reported that the
wholesale price of Grade A butter
at Chicago for December was
$1,4794 per pound and the nonfat

12-month decline
Dairy farmers were paid on the
basis of $13.71 per hundredweight
for milk delivered to Order No. 2
handlers during November.
The price was three cents less
than the amount received (or
November 1981, marking a full
year of declines that ranged from
three cents to 22 cents per hun
dredweight
The seasonal incentive fund's
last payback for 1962 was $2.6
million, includin $0.7 million in
terest earned on investment of the
monies deducted during the spring
months.
This was the second highest
amount of interest earned, ex
ceeded only by last year’s total
($O.B million); it will be recalled

The effect of the seasonal in
centive payback was an addition of
SJOS per hundredweight to the
dairy fanner’s uniform price for
November 1982.
Producer receipts continued
their upward trend. They
aggregated 854.8 million pounds in
November 1982, an increase of 23.0
million pounds (2.8 percent) from
last year. Fluid milk product w»iwt
were slightly higher than a year
ago, 383.7 million pounds com
pared to 362.4 million pounds.
The net effect of these two
factors was another decline in the
Class I utilization percentage. It
slipped more than one percentage
point to 44.9 percent.
The Class I price ($14.71) was the
same as last year while the Class n
price was four cents higher than in
November 1961.
