Lancaster hog wins market title for rookie showman

Swine competition, beginning at

Chad Folker, 9, of New Holland got
the winning nod from judge Buell
Nine-year-old Chad Folker from New Holland finishes his
first Farm Show competition in a big way. The Lancaster
County youngster's Chester-Ouroc barrow, which weighed in
at 236 pounds, captured Thursday’s junior market hog show.
Chad is flanked by Deputy Secretary Chet Heim, left, and
Penn State Agriculture Dean Sam Smith.
Mike McCahren, 14, accepts the Reserve Grand Champion
market hog award from Deputy Ag secretary Chet Heim. The
Mifflintown 4-H’er earned the title with this 228-pound
Duroc-Spotted barrow.
