Dorset Show on Sunday.

family claimed the reserve grand champion ram award in
Sunday's breeding sheep competition. Sired by an Isaac ram
out of a homebred ewe, the ram champion is being used as
one of the suds on the family’s 54 brood ewes. Daughter Julia
Staver exhibited the lamb.

“We love craning to Farm
Show,” said daughter Julie, whose
practice finds her living on the
outskirts of Philadelphia. “It gives
us a chance to see people we
haven’t seen all year; and we’ve
made a lot of friends here that
we’re glad to see again.” She
added that she hates to see her dad
miss the show, but observed
someone has to stay home and look
after the lambing ewes.
The Staver family also captured
first place in the Dorset Flock
class. Helping to hold the family’s
blue-ribbon sheep were brothers
Chuck and Ken, both former Farm
Show 4-H winners and respected
sheep producers.
