Dl2—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, January IS, 1983 Mellott and Rudy post Cheviot wins FARM SHOW - Centre and Fulton County exhibitors were familiar faces in the Cheviot winner’s circle, Sunday. Jeff Mellott, 20 of Needmore, Fulton County caught Judge Leroy Boyd’s eye with his yearling ram lamb. The lamb won his class and returned to capture the Grand Champion ribbon. The Needmore exhibitor’s yearling ewe earned the Reserve Champion Ewe title. The winning animals are members of Mellott's multi-breed herd that he maintains with his grandfather Emil Mellott. Their flock of more than 100 breeding ewes, includes 15 Cheviots, 22 Oxfords, 45 Corriedales and 20 Rambouillets. David Harpster of Boalsburg sets this Cheviot ewe lamb after she was named Grand Champion Ewe. Owned by the Herbert Rudy family of Pennsylvania Furnace, Centre County, the champ is joined by the Rudy grandchildren, from left Kory, 8; Terri, 6; Cinnamon, 10. The children's parents are Ken and Linda Rudy. Centre County exhibitors, the Herbert Rudy family of Penn sylvania Furnace, claimed two champions from their seven-head showstring. Hie Rudys’ first place ewe lamb walked away with Grand Cham pion Ewe honors while their ram lamb finished with the Reserve Grand Champion Ewe title. The Rudy home flock which numbers about 20 breeding Cheviot ewes are familiar entries in fairs throughout the central Penn sylvania region.
