Farm Financial Now is the Time (Continued from Page A 10) Ammonium nitrate and am monium sulfate fertilizers have been used for melting ice and they may be effective, but the chemical reaction will ruin a concrete surface in just a year or two. Sand and grit from deteriorating con crete, when tracked into the house, is a nuisance to clean and it marks and scratches finished floors. Some commercial ice melting compounds containing ammonium sulfate are just as bad as fertilizers and the runoff from these melting chemicals may kill grass, trees and shrubs. Course sawdust spread on slippery sidewalks provides a relatively skid-free surface. It has no harmful effects on concrete or plant life. It is mush easier to pick up with a vacuum cleaner if tracked into the bouse. Management Clinic, continues tomorrow, 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., 4-H Center, Bair.
