There are four basic
production practices
that will enable the
yields and profits.
The farmer should
know soil type and
match the crop to it. The
type can be found in the
country’s soil survey
report. This report aids
the farmer in deter
mining the amount of
limestone and fertilizer
necessary to obtain a
high crop yield.
As much energy as
possible should be
conserved in the soil.
Corn expends the most
energy, but by rotating
with alfalfa every two
years, some of this
energy can be con

For best results,
farmers should use high
quality seeds in plan
ting. These seeds have a
germination of 90
percent and contain few
or no weeds.
