Numerous societies throughout
the state organization are making
plans to celebrate their official
day, some joining as a county
group for breakfast or brunch
fellowship meals. Brief programs
will renew members’ awareness of
the ..goals and purposes of the
Society of Farm Women.
“We want to keep these
gatherings symbolic of what Farm
Saturdi
Women is all a bout-small in
formal groups, stressing that
sometimes the simple things are
those that mean the most,” stated
Mrs. Baughman.
It was on October 14, 1914 that
the first society was founded,
organized by Mrs. Flora Black, in
Somerset County. Society of Farm
Women leaders hope to continue
the Oct. 14 Farm Women’s Day as
an annual celebration to their
organization, which stresses ap

involvement in one’s community.
