DlO—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, October 9,1982 PETIT JEAN MT., Ark. - Henryk Jasiorowski, director of cattle breeding at Warsaw Agricultural University, will be the featured international lecturer at the 1983 International Stockmen’s School sponsored by Winroek International Jan. 2-6 in San An tonio, Texas. The former president of Warsaw Agricultural University and for mer director of animal production and health for the Food 'and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Rome will lec ture on global livestock production systems and on cattle breeding. Some of his lectures will be based on ten years of evaluation of cattle in Poland produced from semen of bulls from 10 other countries and the U.S. He is one of almost a dozen lecturers at the school who will be presenting papers on international topics. The 1983 Stockmen’s School, designed to help producers of beef tattle, dairy cattle, sheep, goats, and horses increase the produc tivity and profitability of their enterprises, will offer increased opportunities for exchanges bet ween U.S. stockmen and scientists and their colleagues from other countries, according to Frank Baker, director of the school. Manuel Ruiz of Costa Rica, head of animal production at the Tropical Agricultural Research Center, will speak on beef and dairy management systems in tropical environments; J. O’Shea of Cork, Ireland, a researcher with the Agricultural Institute, Fermoy Co., will speak on research of dairy management and on mastitis control; and Miguel Galina, professor of animal science at the University of Mexico, will speak on dairy goat nutrition and management and on sheep production. Raun, vice president of Winroek International, formerly with the Center for Tropical Agricultural Research in Cali, Colombia, will speak on tropical cattle production and management. Textbooks on beef cattle, dairy cattle, sheep and goats, and horses, including all lectures will be available. The abstracts will be available in both English and Spanish editions. The International Stockmen’s School was founded in the early 1940 s by M.E.
